Juan Manuel Marquez: Fans Want Pacquiao vs Mayweather Fight, Not Pacquiao-Marquez 5

Juan Manuel Marquez is reportedly willing to face Manny Pacquiao again, but the Mexican boxing icon believes that fight fans want to see Pacquiao collide with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Marquez said in a recent interview that there are ongoing talks about a fifth fight after Pacquiao captured the World Boxing Organization welterweight title, but he insisted that the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight should happen.

"I think the fight that the fans want is Manny and Floyd," Marquez said. "That's what they want to see and they should do it. I have already had four fights with Pacquiao, and many people would prefer to see these two opponents face each other in the ring. I think if we voted on what fight people want to see, I sure they would want to see Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr."

Marquez also admitted that Pacquiao looked good during his recent rematch with Timothy Bradley wherein the former pound-for-pound king scored a unanimous decision win to reclaim his welterweight title.

The 40-year-old Mexican said that Pacquiao displayed his vaunted speed and power despite being a little bit cautious in his attacks.

"I thought Pacquiao looked good. I thought he looked fast, strong. I think he was a little more cautious, but I thought he looked good with speed, good boxing, which he's shown in his previous fights," Marquez said.

Previous reports indicated that Marquez wants to win a fifth title, which makes the Pacquiao-Marquez 5 showdown possible this year since the Mexican wants the WBO welterweight belt.

But when asked about the possibility of facing Pacquiao again, Marquez did not give a straight to the point answer, saying that he is focused in his upcoming fight.

"I do not know yet. I have a big fight on May 17, and I have to meet that commitment first. I know it's a natural fight to do [with Pacquiao], but first we have to walk before we start running," Marquez said.

Marquez, who is coming off a split decision loss to Bradley in October last year, will go up against Mike Alvarado in a non-title fight on May 17 at The Forum in Los Angeles.
