'Nashville' Season 5 Air Date, News & Updates: Musical Drama Survives Cancellation; Beyonce To Join The Show?

ABC's "Nashville" has survived cancellation thanks to the loyal fans who support the country musical drama. ABC apparently decided to cancel the show earlier this year and it sparked a remarkable fan campaign to rescue the series.

After a successful fan-lead campaign to save "Nashville" from the horrid clutches of cancellation, the series will be back for Season 5 on January 5, 2017. According to TV Series Finale, the cast and crew of "Nashville" are grateful and very much moved by the effort of the fans to keep the show alive. Therefore, they promise to make the new season worth the effort.

Now that "Nashville" Season 5 has been confirmed and fans are simply waiting for its air date to arrive, there are more challenges faced by the hit musical drama. The fact that the show transferred from network to cable means that "Nashville" Season 5 is bound to have lower ratings. However, to combat this, producers are negotiating with a famous star to play hero for the show's ratings.

According to Game N Guide, exclusives at CMT are negotiating with the superstar Beyonce Knowles to join the "Nashville" drama series. As for Beyonce, this could be a win-win scenario. Especially with the fact that the "Single Ladies" singer is gunning to get a bucket load of nominations in the Grammy Awards. The said event will be announced on December 6. Hopefully, her name will be included when the winners are awarded on February 12, 2017.

After her unexpected loss in the Emmys last September, the singer is possibly up for more projects to inflate her chances of nabbing the award next year. Jobs & Hire will keep you posted on any news about Beyonce's decision on joining the cast of "Nashville" Season 5.

Furthermore, CMT has already released the trailer for "Nashville" Season 5 and shots have been fired, people! The trailer flaunts the tagline "New Episodes, New Home" and "Let's pick up where we left off."  Hopefully, CMT will be able to make the beloved country music drama series shine in their brand new home network. Did ABC make the right decision canceling the show that many fans have come to love?
