"God Wars Future Past" was originally scheduled for release on February 23, 2017. However, upon an announcement on December 13, 2016 by Kadogawa Games, it has stated that "God Wars Future Past" will be delayed on its release until next spring in Japan.
According to Anime News Network, Kadokawa Games has received negative feedbacks from players who have tried the demo version. The game developers has then decided to delay the game's release due to game-play improvements and to improve the battle tempo, response, and the level of difficulty, controls, camera system, and some confusing parts of its interface.
NIS America has started streaming the English trailer for the game on October 27, 2016. NIS America will be releasing the game on PlayStation4 and PlayStation Vita in standard and limited editions for both consoles. The limited edition will be including a collector's box, the game, an artwork book, and a soundtrack. A 27" by 38" cloth poster, and lastly 3.5 inches in diameter pocket mirror.
Furthermore, NIS America plans to launch the game in North America and Europe in 2017. In addition NIS America is also launching both versions digitally. The pre-orders are currently available only in North America, and NIS America will reveal pre-order details for the European release at a later date.
The "God Wars Future Past" game will have a physical and digital release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game platforms. Both the physical release on the game platforms will cost 7,344 yen including tax which is about 71 in USD. The demo of the game was launched in Japan on September 5, 2016. The game is inspired by anime character designs, and monster designs upon the influence of the classical Japanese Yamato-e paintings.
The former head of Tecmo Yoshimi Yasuda and present head of Kadokawa Games is creating the story, directing the game as well as writing the scenario. The LovePlus designer Taro Minoboshi is in charge of character designing, the monsters designs are under Sawaki Takeyasu's management.
As for the theme song "Toki O Koete" it has been performed by Fuyumi Sakamoto. So far no more further statements were reported regarding the delayed release of "God Wars Future Past" in Japan and it was still under strict observation until they will give further announcement.
