Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's escape from his maximum-security prison cell last July 11, 2015 caught not only Mexicans by surprise but also the whole world. "El Chapo's" escape eclipsed the victory of his capture in February 2014 by the Mexican government, who have been searching for the czar of the Sinaloa cartel for about a decade since his first break out in another highly secured facility. Because of this high profile escape of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, director Ridley Scott was said to have teamed up with FOX to create a movie adaptation of Don Winslow's novel with the title "The Cartel," which used "El Chapo" as the inspiration for his character Adan Berrera
