Gennady Golovkin vs Marco Antonio Rubio Undercard: Nonito Donaire, Nicholas Walters Predict Knockout Victories

Nonito Donaire and Nicholas Waiters will collide for the World Boxing Association featherweight title on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California in the undercard of the showdown between Gennady Golovkin and Marco Antonio Rubio.

Donaire, who holds a 33-2 record with 21 knockouts victories, knows that Walters is talking a lot about defeating him in their upcoming showdown, but the Filipino boxer said that he has silenced fighters like his next opponent before.

"Confident fighters are dangerous fighters," Donaire said via BoxingScene. "I know that. But there other fighters who said before a fight they were stronger than me, hit harder, were going to knock me out."

Donaire, who is coming off a knockout win against Simpiwe Vetyeka in his previous fight in May, said that his resume is far more impressive than his opponent's and he is confident that he will score a knockout on Saturday.

"Walters is a good champion but really how many quality fights has he been in compared to where I have been in my career," Donaire said. "We both have speed, we both have power. It's an explosive fight. This is going to end in a knockout. I will go into the ring and do my best."

On the other hand, Walters, who holds an impressive 24-0 record with 20 knockouts, admitted that Donaire is a tough opponent for him. But he believes that he is more intelligent and it will be enough for him to score a stoppage victory against the "The Filipino Flash."

"Donaire is a very good champion," Walters. "We both have speed and power. The difference is intelligence. I was born to fight. The bigger the fight the better. If Donaire isn't right, he's going to get knocked out.  Maybe five rounds, maybe less. Not sure yet."

The 28-year-old Jamaican quickly added, though, that scoring a knockout won't be easy, but he vowed to work hard on fight night to get his 21st knockout victory in 25 fights.

"I didn't say that it will be an easy night," Walters said via BoxingScene. "Maybe I have to work hard for the knockout, but I'm going to work for the knockout. That's it. Maybe I have to work hard for the knockout, but I'm going to work for it. I'm going for the knockout. Nonito is a tough fighter, but he's a fighter. I'm going to go in there and do what I do best."
