Will the iPhone7 Plus Be Buttonless, Have a Touch ID And No Headphone Jack?

Among the features that the iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to have are a buttonless design and a Touch ID built into the screen, and no headphone jack, Mac World UK reports.

News of the possibility of the new 3D touch technology in lieu of the Home Button came in mid October 2015 from Gene Munster, analyst at Piper Jaffray. Admittedly, Munster's predictions have hardly been reliable - or accurate - in the past, namely his Apple Television predictions. He said that the phone's screen could be made smaller, or the screen bigger; were Apple to remove the Home Button and employ 3D Touch.

As Apple's iPhones get smaller and smaller, a big obstacle has been the bottom bezel that houses the Home button: it just can't afford to get any smaller.

Sonavation, the bio-metric R&D company recently announced technology that would make such a development possible. They claimed that their firm has successfully developed an ultrasound biometric sensor that is compatible with Corning Gorilla Glass. This would provide a high-resolution 3D fingerprint image.

Apple has been known to use Gorilla Glass in its iPhones before.

This theory is also supported by the fact that Apple filed a patent last year (Patent application number 20150036065) for "a fingerprint sensor... incorporated in a display stack in an electronic device". The patent was filed in April of 2014 by various engineers of Apple.

The iPhone 7 plus is rumored to be launched at the September event this year (2016).

The new iPhone might also remove the headphone jack. This would help the phone achieve new slimness. The solution for headphones would instead be wireless headphones, or using a Lightning connector.

This news would mean that Apple would have to supply customers with new headphones, and rumors support that Apple is working on it. In fact, it is heard that Apple has two sets of headphones in the pipeline. The first of these are Lightning EarPods, which are probably regular EarPods but with a Lightning connector. The second is the new AirPods, completely wireless earphones.
