A journalist job is never easy. It is a day of reckoning for them as the World Press Freedom Day sheds light to how hard and difficult their jobs could be. Also, as the world sees the hurdles pertaining to a journalist life and work, it leads to an understanding that any job without commitment and passion can be ineffective.

A journalist job usually brings them closer to dangers, to scrutiny and even in the face of calamity and demise and even in the desire for freedom of the press brings the journalist closer to perils. To prove the latter, “Verbal attacks by presidential candidates in the U.S., new security laws in Europe and increased surveillance of information are some of the new challenges journalists face today, media freedom advocates said on the eve of World Press Freedom Day,” reports USA Today.

World Press Freedom Day aims to raise awareness of press freedom. It falls this year on Tuesday, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the world’s first freedom of information law and the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Windhoek Declaration of press freedom principles in Africa, as noted by the same post

Sarah Repucci, project director at the Freedom House, a non-partisan group that researches issues relating to human rights and other basic freedoms said, “In the US, in the run up for the elections, we are seeing a huge amount of polarization in the media and we have also seen some very troubling verbal attacks against the media and against the idea that journalists should be free to criticize candidates.”

It appears that in the world of politics, media and other journalism sectors are playing a pivotal role in the direction of the elections. In terms of maintaining career and excellence, it is not just the journalists that are having trouble but even other jobs as well. Jobs & Hire reported that hurdles and challenges are among the core reasons why careers are impeded and victory is not attainable.
