Universal Pictures Bagged 'Voltron' For $4B: Live Action Movie In The Works, Netflix's 'Voltron: Legendary Defender' David Hayter to Pen The Script?

Finally, the giant robot "Voltron" will be coming to the big screen! Universal Pictures bagged the film franchise together with the $4 billion worth DreamWorks Animation. Netflix's "Voltron: Legendary Defender", David Hayter will pen the live-Action movie project which is one of the in-line program joints with the acquisition.

Originally, "Voltron" anime is about a five astronauts who found giant lion robots---incidentally, it forms a giant robot. The series was aired in US during 1984-1985, it became quite a sensation. Similarly, the plot idea is in line with the other incoming movies: 'Power Ranger' and 'Transformer'. The difference of "Voltron" will be the challenge Universal Pictures will face, they need to bring something new to the film.

The pop culture of robots in action isn't dead yet, "Voltron Live Action Movie" success can still be up in the air. Definitely, people are still excited for mechanical bravery stories that displays strength in face of any danger. Avid fans of robot 'Voltron' are still waiting for film  for years, there weer several attempts but nothing materialize. 

According to Deadline, Netflix's "Voltron: Legendary Defender" writer, David Hayter, is hired to write "Voltron Live Action Movie". Also, He penned "X-Men", and "Watchmen". In addition, reports include "The Chronicles of Riddick" and "The Lone Ranger" producer, Tom Engelman will finance the film.

In reality, DreamWorks Animation "Voltron" is still in progress, the acquisition is still very new. The management hasn't disclose any news regarding the movie updates. While, Digital trends reports, as the movie production is not yet starting, Universal Pictures is focusing for a while on its upcoming "Transformers: The Last Night" and "Power Rangers movies".
